Post What about this...
This whole topic of Dr. Dobson's view on Assistive Technologies has me wondering. My situation is a bit different. I am 95% certain that my twin and I are identical. I have spoken with her about donating her eggs, if and only if, DH and I have exhausted every other opportunity. He and I would have my twin's and mine DNA compared before ever considering a donation from her. But, if we are IDENTICAL twins, then in every way my DNA is her DNA and vice versa. Do you think this makes a difference?

(Side note: I don't really care what Dr. Dobson's view on this would be. I just think it is an interesting scenario.)

I don't think there is a problem with donation, whether your DNA is the same or not, but I do think that having an identical twin to donate eggs for you sounds very exciting. :-)

Heather,

I fully agree. I have no problem with donation. My sister has children, so I know that her eggs are healthy. Being able to produce eggs is my problem... so, if ovulation stimulation drugs continue to be so "floppy" on me, I would be VERY interested to know our DNA match.

I think that would be so cool, especially if your DNA matched, as long as your sister was willing. I have read before of a twin sister being a surrogate for her IF twin, and I thought that was such a selfless act of love.

Just a quick update, because I can't remember if I posted this elsewhere...

DH and I asked our RE about when we might need to consider involving my twin - if she were willing. His response was that it felt that in our situation that donor anything would be a premature action. He understands wanting a higher chance rate, but doesn't feel that donor needs to be a part of our equation at this time. We have had many cycles, but the response is usually good... and DH's sperm were able to penetrate my eggs during the IVF we did a year ago... all of which should provide assurance that DH and I can produce a baby.

So... we are persevering and choosing to believe that God has put it in our hearts to be parents and that He intends to fulfill that desire.

:agree: with the other girls. My sister tried to donate to me...it didn't work out so we choose other donor options
