I agree with Julie- as far as I understand they change the regular flu shot every year to reflect the yearly changes, so it shouldn't be that different for h1n1, its just more talked about.
a local 16 year old kid died yesterday from type A flu. He woke up sick, and was gone by 11am. They don't think its h1n1. People just don't hear about the regular flu anymore.

you should get the vaccines before TTC or a procedure. They aren't recommended until the 2nd tm, my dr told me to wait until I was 12 weeks to get either one. Your baby will get your immunity, and they can't be vaccinated until 6 months, so its best to have your body processing the vaccine and building the immunity for the baby.
Personally, DH and I talked and prayed about it. We both feel like it is prudent to do as the doctors recommend and trust the Lord.
Prayers for everyone as they deal with this decision!

I talked to my clinic today and they want me to get the flu shot. Nothing was mentioned about the H1N1 so I won't get that unless they tell me to. So I am going this week to get my very first flu shot ever!! it is exciting to me because it means that we are really moving forward and ttc.

My RE has recommended that I get this vaccination if I can, preferably before our FET. I have decided to get it as soon as it is available. I was watching a news report tonight that showed a woman that was 6 months pg that got it and lost the baby. She was also in a drug induced coma for 5 weeks over it. The report also said that: Quote: At least 100 pregnant women have been admitted to intensive care units across the country with complications of H1N1; 28 have died. That is why pregnant women are considered a priority group to receive the H1N1 vaccine. It went on to explain that part of the reason is that your immunity is suppressed while pg and because of the baby there is less room for your lungs therefore causing breathing issues. Yuo can find the whole story on cbs.com.

In april or may there was a woman in WA state that died.. while in a coma, they delivered her baby first. They showed the dad speaking on tv. It was so sad.

Quote: I've never gotten a seasonal flu shot, so I don't plan on getting one this year, either. I don't plan on getting the H1N1 shot, because I don't think it's been tested enough, and I don't trust it. We haven't seen any swine flu at all in our office yet, thank goodness.

I still haven't gotten the H1N1, but I will when I can...It's a little irritating to me that they say pregnant women are at high risk, yet (at lease in NH where I am) the first vaccines they had were the nasal ones, that pregnant women can't take. I had a Dr. appt. today, they had vaccines, but not the ones without the mercury in them?!

Re: H1N1 vaccine - my sister wrote me, ***WARNING preg Mentioned
We finally got some of our H1N1 vaccines in on Thursday, only 100 doses, and nothing for the little ones under 4. I had to go pick them up from the Health Department. It was kind of funny, because when this whole thing was getting started, the hospital had a meeting for doctor's office staff, and in that meeting, they were saying that when the vaccine came in, it would be delivered in armored vehicles. Well, I drive a little white ford contour. It's about as far from an armored vehicle as you can get! Thinking about that made me giggle. We had to call all of our ob patients, and try to get them to come in for the shot. It's interesting, because a lot more of them than I expected have been refusing to get the shot.
